What is Inter-Library Loans
Interlibrary loans (ILL) is a service which helps library
users to obtain material that is not available at the DIT libraries.
Searches are made on Sabinet to check whether the item requested is
available nationally or internationally.
Who May use the ILL Service?
All registered staff and students of DIT.
Where should I look before applying?
You should first look in the Library’s catalogue (OPAC) to
see that the item you need is available in any of the DIT libraries. If it
is not available, then you may apply for it through Inter-library loans.
What can be requested?
Most published materials, including books, dissertations,
theses and photocopies of journal articles.
NOTE : Photocopied material items are subject to
copyright limitations
What information do I need for an ILL?
Book Requests : Author; Title;
Publisher; ISBN No; Edition; Date of Publication.
Journal Requests : Journal title; Article title;
Author of article; Year/Date; Vol; Issue/Part No; Page No.
How Long does it take?
Between 1 and 4 weeks, depending upon location and
availability. Urgent requests can be faxed.Use of document delivery service
(Ariel)
Length of Loan
Is determined by the Supplying library
Renewals may be possible
Check with the ILL office in person or telephonically on 204 2361 before the
item is due
Photocopies are your to keep.
How much does it cost?
Payment is made on receipt of the item
NOTE
Renewals of books are made through the Inter-library loans
office.
All overdue books are fined.
