Notice to the DUT Community
DUT library has opened its doors for the phased-in return of staff and students across DUT campuses. It is important to note that the health and safety of our community has remained our priority throughout the process of preparing the library for reopening.
Several measures have been implemented to ensure that library spaces and information services are reorganized to maintain social distancing. These changes are necessary and have limited the availability of study and social spaces, access to computers and laptops, as well as some of the face-to-face services offered by the library. Information and Reference services are offered primarily online with Subject Librarians being available on campus on specific days only. The ‘Ask a Librarian’ chat facility, remains operational during office hours.
The following protocols are in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in library spaces:
- Access into libraries may be controlled to avoid overcrowding
- Access to certain library spaces and e-zones will be limited
- Hand sanitizers have been provided at the entrance and throughout the libraries to ensure that all users sanitize their hands
- All library users are expected to wear face masks to minimize the spread of infection
- Library furniture has been re-organized to ensure that a two metre distance is maintained between users
- Sneeze shields will be installed at all library service points
- All returned library material will be quarantined for a set period before being made available for loan again
- All library surfaces are sanitized frequently (including telephones, photocopiers, computers, student tables, work counters, stairways, and toilets)
- In the Ezones, a limited number of computers will be available to ensure necessary distancing measures are observed
- Use of Ezone computers will be limited to one hour per user
From 1 July 2020 the library operating hours will be extended to offer after-hours services. The operating hours indicated below will apply.
