What is an Inter-Library Loan?
An Inter-Library Loan (ILL) is a loan arranged with another library in order to assist DUT Library users to obtain a required item that DUT Library does not have. Searches are made to check whether the item requested is available for loan from another library nationally or internationally and if so a loan is arranged with that library.
Tipasa provides new functionality that speeds up the fulfillment of interlibrary loan requests to save time for staff and users. Tipasa offers a high-volume ILL solution and is built on top of the WorldShare Interlibrary Loan platform functionality.
It includes 4 basic services:
– a patron interface with responsive design to ensure end-users can access their interlibrary loan requests from anywhere on any type of device;
– a WorldShare staff interface built on top of the WorldShare Interlibrary Loan service;
– a notification service where different types of end-user notifications are set up, and
– a configuration service which ensures the patron and staff interfaces are customized according to the individual needs of an institution.
Tipasa can assist libraries to get these materials to their users in an efficient way within the shortest possible time.
