IT Student Support
The Student IT support service is a collaboration between the ITSS department and the DUT Library.There are TWO walk-in centers located at the Alan Pittendrigh Library (Steve Biko Campus) and the BM Patel Library (ML Sultan Campus).
Similar to the IT support offered to staff members, students are offered support with all IT related services and queries including but not limited to the following:
1) Student IT Services
- Help with creating/resetting of lost or forgotten passwords
- Student Information – how to view your results, academic admission status, contact info etc.
- Online Residence applications
- Summerised statement of account
2) Student Portal
- Student related information
- Links to Library, Moodle
- Institution’s Exam Repository (Important since exams are already underway in some departments, students can find out how-to download past papers)
3) DUT4Life
- Help with access to student e-mail
- How to use One Drive
- Document sharing and On-line Microsoft Applications(Word, excel, PowerPoint and OneNote)
4) Wireless Access
- Help with accessing free WiFi on campus
- Hardware advice on all your devices (Laptops, Netbooks, Tablets & Smartphones etc.)
- Software issues and free open source software(Open office, free antivirus, PDF Viewer etc.)
5) Student inquiry
- Information on the use of Library IT services (Student Kiosk, OPACs)
- Student SMS Services – find out how to request results and other information via the institution’s SMS service
