Beginning University Survey of Student Engagement (BUSSE) – Ends 31 March 2017

Dear Student,

As part of the Siyaphumelela (we succeed) project, Durban University of Technology is running engagement surveys to learn more about our students and their learning experiences.

This email kindly invites the voluntary participation of all FIRST YEAR STUDENTS in the Beginning University Survey of Student Engagement (BUSSE), which allows you to share your high school experiences and how often you expect to participate in certain activities during your first year of study at university. This survey is open from 13 February to the 6th March 2017 ONLY. It can be completed online, at any time, from anywhere!

The Siyaphumelela project is about student success. The Beginning University Survey of Student Engagement will ask you to reflect on your high school academic experience and what you think will happen in your 1st year of study at university. The results of this survey will be used to inform and improve teaching and learning at DUT. So please help us to help you adapt to university life.

This student engagement research has been approved by DUT’s Institutional Research Ethics Committee (IREC 082/16). You will be required to provide your student number so that you can be identified as a DUT student. All information provided will be treated as confidential and used solely for the purpose of this research, aimed at improving student success.

The survey is administered by the University of Free State. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. Students who complete the survey in full will stand a chance to WIN airtime.

REMEMBER THE DATES: 13 February until 31 March 2017.
