Free Training on Ebook Central and Summon

A representative from ProQuest will be visiting DUT Library to provide training on Ebook Central and Summon.

Ebook Central, the new ebrary platform, is an ebook database which offers scholarly ebooks from leading publishers covering business and economics, education, technology, the humanities, life and physical sciences, law and politics, medicine, social and behavioural sciences, language and literature, and career guidance.

Training outline for Ebook Central:

• Basic and advanced search functions
• Searching text in QuickView and Unity Reader
• Creating notes and highlights
• Creating a Bookshelf and sharing Bookshelf content
• InfoTools – linking out to online and electronic resources
• Creating content Alerts

Summon is currently DUT Library’s discovery tool.

• Single search box, subject areas and product start pages
• Introduction to Advanced search
• Search results: faceted search options, document preview and more
• Right tools at the right time: spell check, cite, export and more
